Contributor Application HomeServiceBlog.com

Become a HomeServiceBlog Contributor

HomeServiceBlog is an editorial-first resource for homeowners — not a marketplace, not a review site, and not a pay-to-play platform. We don't pay contributors for content, and contributors don't pay us for placement. That's exactly why we're selective: every article published here earns its spot on merit.

The questions below take about 4–5 minutes. If your background fits our editorial direction, we'll reach out to set up a short call.

Why we ask: We prioritize contributors with hands-on field experience. There's no minimum years requirement, but the strongest contributors have repeat experience solving the same problems homeowners search for online.
Step 3 of 7 · Expertise

Your expertise

These three answers matter more than any credential. Specific, honest answers beat polished marketing language.

How Our Contributor Model Works

HomeServiceBlog does not pay contributors for content, and contributors do not pay us for placement. There is no advertising fee, sponsorship arrangement, or paid editorial path.

In exchange, contributors are credited by name and business, and earn brand mentions plus a contributor link back to their company website or social accounts. Because no money changes hands, we're highly selective — every contributor must add real editorial value to our homeowner audience.

I understand and am comfortable with this contributor model. I am not seeking paid placement, and I am not being asked to pay for placement.*

Both backgrounds can work. Contributors with field experience or trade backgrounds are weighted more heavily. If you're research-based, your samples and reporting depth carry more weight.

How Our Contributor Model Works

HomeServiceBlog does not pay contributors for content, and writers do not pay us for placement. Writers contribute because the platform reaches an engaged homeowner audience and credits each contributor with a byline and bio link.

Because no money changes hands, we're selective about every piece we publish — quality is the only filter.

I understand and am comfortable with this contributor model. I am not seeking paid writing work, and I am not being asked to pay for placement.*

Editorial Standards

Contributor Agreement

Plain-language version. Read this before applying. By submitting an application — and, if accepted, by contributing content — you agree to the terms below.

The Most Important Rule: No Money Changes Hands

HomeServiceBlog does not pay contributors, and contributors do not pay HSB. There is no advertising fee, sponsorship arrangement, paid editorial path, or pay-for-placement option of any kind. This rule applies to every piece of content published on the site, without exception.

If anyone offers you placement on HSB in exchange for payment, or asks you to pay for placement, please report it to editors@homeserviceblog.com.

What Contributors Receive

  • A byline crediting you and your business by name
  • One brand mention naturally integrated into the article, where appropriate
  • One contributor link to your business website or primary social profile
  • Inclusion on our public Contributors page
  • Editorial review and copy editing at no cost

What Contributors Do Not Receive

  • Payment for content
  • Guaranteed publication of every submission
  • Final approval over editorial revisions
  • Promised search rankings, traffic, or business outcomes
  • Exclusivity in your trade or geographic area
1

Editorial Process

HSB's editorial team reviews every contribution before publication. We may edit for clarity, accuracy, length, structure, or style; add internal links, headers, or supporting context; decline publication if a piece does not meet our editorial standards; or request a revision before accepting.

We will not publish content that contradicts your stated facts, materially misrepresents your perspective, or removes your byline without your awareness.

2

Content Standards

Contributions must be original (authored or substantially driven by you), not primarily AI-generated, factually defensible, and free from advertorial language, sales pitches, or pressure tactics. Contributions must not defame, harass, or violate the rights of any third party.

HSB reserves the right to fact-check any claim and to decline publication where claims cannot be verified.

3

Ownership & Republishing Rights

You retain authorship of your content. By submitting, you grant HSB a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to publish, edit, format, distribute, and promote your content on the HSB website and associated channels (social media, email newsletters, partner syndication).

You may republish your contribution elsewhere, provided the HSB version remains live and the elsewhere-published version credits HSB as the original publication source.

4

Removal & Termination

You may request removal of your contributed content at any time, in writing, with up to 60 days for HSB to action the request. HSB may remove, edit, unpublish, or update content at any time, without prior notice, if it no longer meets editorial standards or if circumstances materially change.

5

Your Representations

By contributing, you represent and warrant that: you authored the content or have the right to submit it; the content does not infringe any third party's rights; the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge; and you are not currently subject to any agreement that prohibits you from contributing.

6

No Endorsement of Contributor's Business

Publication on HSB is not an endorsement of any contributor's business, services, or qualifications. HSB does not vet, certify, license-verify, or guarantee the work of any contributor. Homeowners are advised to conduct their own due diligence before hiring any service provider — including contributors.

7

How a Contributor Relationship Begins

Submitting an application does not create an obligation on either side. A contributor relationship begins only after HSB confirms acceptance in writing (typically via email). Until that confirmation, applicants should consider themselves under review.

8

Changes to This Agreement

HSB may update this agreement from time to time. Active contributors will be notified of material changes by email. Continued contribution after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Acknowledgment

Submitting your application above signals that you've read this agreement and accept its terms. If you have questions before applying, contact editors@homeserviceblog.com.
